The Hiding Place from the Wind (continued)

Beloved, if you remember, last week I interrupted my series of letters in order to place more emphasis on Christ and the “True Meaning of Christmas.” This week, I want to continue writing about “The Hiding Place from the Wind.” During the period of Judgment, men will know that no mortal man can hide them from the coming tests. A man called “the Antichrist” will attempt to draw men’s attention to himself, but he will eventually lose his influence as the days of Tribulation and Great Tribulation approach on this earth. However, during this time, there will be “…a man [who is destined to fulfill the prophecy of Isaiah. He] shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land” (Isaiah 32:2). This is the “man” Christ Jesus. By this, I mean the God-Man. He was “…manifest in the flesh…” (I Timothy 3:16) more than 2000 years ago. Men will look to Him for salvation – I promise – during this time. All eyes will be open to the truth. When Paul said that “…at the name of Jesus every knee [shall] bow…and…every tongue [shall] confess that Jesus Christ is Lord” (Philippians 2:10-11), many people believe that Paul was speaking only of the time when all souls will be judged at the “White Throne of Judgment.” On the contrary, during the period of God’s wrath here on this earth, trust me, all who are alive will acknowledge Jesus as God, and this confession and commitment will be their “Hiding Place from the Wind.”

Precious Ones, it is with divine wisdom that I caution you. You and I had better be sure that we have found our hiding place from the destruction, sorrows, and woes that are coming upon the earth! Yes – Isaiah said that there is a “tempest of hail” coming that will be “…cast down to the earth with the hand [of God]” (Isaiah 28:2). Beloved, it was only a matter of time (December 14, 2003, to be exact) before the middle-Eastern tyrant, Saddam Hussein, was caught. In like manner, it is only a matter of time before God pours out judgment on this earth for her sins. Is Jesus your “Hiding Place”?

I will write more on this subject next week. Until then, I pray a blessed New Year to all.

I love you SO very much.

The True Meaning of Christmas

Beloved, I don’t usually pause during my series of letters, but the birthday of our Savior warrants the attention. I want to write briefly about “The True Meaning of Christmas.” I will continue our series on “The Hiding Place from the Wind” next week!

Precious Ones, the true meaning of Christmas has nothing to do with receiving, but everything to do with giving. David prophesied about the day when Christ Jesus would enter into this world, and what His mission would be. “Then said I [God], Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart. I have preached righteousness in the great congregation…I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation…” (Psalm 40:7-10). Beloved, let us now fast-forward to the time of the manifestation of Jesus Christ. When Jesus’ cousin, John the Baptist, saw Him, he said, “…Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world” (John 1:29). We learn from this that Jesus was born to give, not to receive (at this time). Even before Mary’s delivery, Gabriel the archangel told her that Jesus would “…save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21).

Chosen Ones, this teaches us that the true Christmas scripture is not Matthew 2:11, where we read that “…when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh.” Notice that those gifts must have been for Mary and Joseph because Jesus, as a baby, could not benefit from the gold and spices. However, the scripture that reflects the true purpose of Christ’s birth and celebration (Christmas), is Matthew 25:34-40, which says, “Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”

So, Children of God, the true meaning of Christmas that rewards and reaps eternal life is TO GIVE “inasmuch” as Christ gives to you. We give not according to the standards of men, but by Jesus’ standard. Don’t bring gifts unto Christ that he cannot use! Don’t bring him “frankincense and myrrh.” Bring Him a heart of charity toward your brothers and sisters in Christ!

I love you all SO very much.
Have a Blessed Christmas and an Anointed New Year.

The Hiding Place from the Wind (continued)

Beloved, in continuance of our theme, “The Hiding Place from the Wind” – I guess you figured out from last week’s lesson that “the Wind” represents the future tribulation period that God will permit on this earth. He also tells us that “a man” is going to rise up and become a “hiding place from the wind” large enough to protect those who will be affected by this dispensation (since the saints will be gone). This man will become “…a covert from the tempest [from all the plagues and judgments that the earth will reap for its past sins]” (Isaiah 32:2).

Precious Ones, in another place, scripture records that we should “[s]anctify the LORD of hosts [ourselves]; and let him be [our] fear, and let him be [our] dread. And he shall be for a sanctuary…” (Isaiah 8:13-14). In other words, during the dispensation of Judgment (particularly the Tribulation and Great Tribulation periods), the Spirit of the Lord will not be found. This is why Isaiah wrote, “Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near…” (Isaiah 55:6). Those who will exist during this time will only find sanctuary in what they know and believe, but not in what they will feel. What a scary thought! Only those who believe, without any manifestations of God’s presence at all, will be able to experience God becoming a special abiding place, wherein His believed presence will continually dwell with those who place their trust in Jesus.

Chosen Ones, the purpose of this series of letters is to help us to appreciate how fortunate we are to live in this dispensation of Grace and Truth, and to motivate us to take full advantage of God’s Spirit and presence today.

I will write more on this subject next week. Until then, know this,

I love you all SO very much.

The Hiding Place from the Wind (Part 1)

Beloved, I would like to write to you from a new subject that the Lord Jesus has laid on my heart, entitled “The Hiding Place from the Wind.” It is a blessing to learn where we are in these perilous times. The scriptures teach us that we are hidden in God from wickedness – “…when the wicked rise, a man is hidden” (Proverbs 28:12). The scripture also teaches that “…a man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert [shelter] from the tempest [storm]; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow [shade] of a great rock in a weary land” (Isaiah 32:2). Beloved, the scripture claims that a man shall fill these positions.

Chosen Ones, the wind spoken of in Isaiah 32:2 is not the wind that shakes the trees. On the contrary, we read in the Book of Daniel that “…the four winds…strove upon the great sea” (Daniel 7:2). This scripture speaks of the conflicts among the nations of Babylon, Medeo-Persia, Greece, and Rome. In the Book of Revelation, we are told that “…four angels [stood] on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth” (Revelation 7:1). This scripture speaks of the time period after the Rapture of the Church – the second coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Precious Ones, after the Rapture, four nations on this earth will dominate all the nations of the world, and God will be the Sanctuary – the hiding place for those fortunate few who will die for salvation in those days.

I will write more on this subject next week.

I love you all so very much.

A God Who Cannot Lie (conclusion)

Beloved, I would like to conclude this series of letters, entitled “A God who Cannot Lie,” by quoting directly from the scriptures – “…faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone” (James 2:17). You must understand that every man will be held responsible for that degree of light which he/she has received, because God holds Himself responsible to uphold His own Word. I shared with you earlier that God swore by “two immutable things” – His Name and His Word, that He would uphold His words unto us. Paul declares that in these two things, “…it was impossible for God to lie, [so that] we might have a strong consolation…to lay hold upon the hope set before us” (Hebrews 6:18). In other words, our God had the wisdom to base His ability to keep His promises upon the integrity of His own character, and not someone else’s, so that we Christians can be comforted in the hope and assurance that His words are true.

Precious Ones, no one knows the depth of our God’s knowledge or the degree of light that He knows! Therefore, if God holds Himself up to a standard unattainable by humans, then we must know that God expects us to show our faith with works by living in the light and knowledge given to us. We know that God is not a liar, so if we say that we live to please Him by faith, then we must show our faith by being honest in all of our affairs in this life.

Chosen Ones, as I conclude, I leave you with this thought – God will never lie. That will always be true. Thus, our first priority should be to cling to those things that are “eternal.” Paul says that “…the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal” (II Corinthians 4:18). You will reap eternal benefits by telling the truth!

Next week, I will speak from a new subject. Until then, know this,

I love you all SO very much.

A God Who Cannot Lie (continued)

Beloved, in continuance of our theme, “A God who Cannot Lie,” I must share with you that if you do what our God commands, you will find that it will breed more confidence in your Creator, simply because the blessings that result from your obedience will be activated in your life. You will also discover that God’s way of life is the best way to live. Jesus knows what He is talking about! For example, God did not lie when He left it on record in the scriptures that there is one way to receive soul salvation. It is not through denominational traditions or through public opinions. Jesus said, “I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out [of me, Jesus], and find pasture [nourishment]” (John 10:9). Therefore, Jesus teaches us that we must acknowledge Him before we can receive salvation for our souls. Those who are offended by the Name of Jesus and who yet believe that their sins are forgiven by God are deceived!

Precious Ones, there are some who believe that if you have faith in the scriptures, you can be redeemed (saved) by faith and believing only! I agree with that, but my question to those who choose this line of thinking is this – “Faith in what?” If your response to this question is “Faith in God’s Word,” then you must understand that this is a lie. God’s Word must be made flesh (see John 1:14)! This means that there must be some manifestation of evidence that your faith has been rewarded by God. I am in agreement with the fact that your faith in the scriptures should lead you to obey the “fleshly” manifestation of being baptized in water (in Jesus’ Name) and receiving God’s gift of the Holy Spirit (with the evidence of tongues from God’s holy language). Remember, Jesus said, “...Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God” (John 3:5). Beloved, God cannot and did not lie when He said this.

I will write more next week. Until then, know this,

I love you all so very much.

A God Who Cannot Lie (continued)

Beloved, in continuance of our theme, “A God who Cannot Lie” – I must share with you that I believe in the rewards that come from living a clean life and having a clean heart. God is against the soul that desires unrighteousness. Remember, “The soul that sinneth,…shall [surely] die” (Ezekiel 18:29), but Psalm 24:3 asks, “Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? [or “stand” in the realm of His blessings]?” – Remember, “…cattle upon a thousand hills” belong to the Lord (Psalm 50:10) – “or who shall stand in his Holy place?” The question is answered in Psalm 24:4 – “He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn [or makes promises] deceitfully.” In other words, Beloved, you cannot “lie” and expect to be blessed!!! We ought to follow the pattern laid out for us by our God. He chooses not to “lie,” and we should make the same choice.

Precious Ones, our God is comfortable with the fact that he has never “lied” to anyone at any time, so much so that he records that he will judge all “liars” based upon the virtues he has displayed toward them! God says that he “…will be a swift witness against false swearers,…[who] fear not [Him]” (Malachi 3:5). Beloved, that means that every “lie” and every “liar” will be judged quickly by God based upon the testimony of God’s eyewitness records of loyalty toward them.

Chosen Ones, therefore, what reason do any of us have to “lie”? “Lying” is not only disgusting to God, but it also does not make any sense!!! Knowing that our Savior Jesus Christ is true in all of His ways, our testimony should reflect our God. People should speak about us as someone spoke about Elijah, “And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and the word of the Lord in thy mouth is TRUTH” (1 Kings 17:24). Beloved, if you are looking for one of the greatest virtues to represent God, truth ranks among the highest.

I will write more on this subject next week. Until then, know this –

I love you all with my best efforts.

A God Who Cannot Lie (continued)

Beloved, in continuance of our theme, “A God who Cannot Lie” – true holiness means something to our God for it is Him who declares that, “...without which no man shall see the Lord” (Hebrews 12:14). Therefore, Beloved, you cannot be considered truly holy and be classified as a “liar” at the same time! Since God has declared through His word the type of character He prefers, you might as well be assured and persuaded that it is the truth; for, according to Hebrews 6:18, “…it [is] impossible for God to lie.”

Precious Ones, what this means is that if God says, “…thy faith hath made thee whole” (Mark 5:34), then you must know that “God cannot lie.” So, we all should look to be whole – physically, spiritually, emotionally, mentally, sensually, and sexually. A Christian should be completely whole. The apostle Paul told the church at Thessalonica that God wants to do more than just set us apart for His use and that “…the very God of peace [can] sanctify [us] wholly.” Paul shared with them his desire, which should be our desire also, “and I pray [Paul says] God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Thessalonians 5:23).

Chosen Ones, if we know that “God is not a liar,” then we should expect to see changes for the better in our lives on a daily basis. I believe none of us made the choice to serve God so that life would continue as it did before our commitment to serve Him. On the contrary, I expect a brand new life now and so should you, because He that promised it “cannot and did not lie” when He said it (John 10:10)!

A God Who Cannot Lie (continued)

Beloved, in continuation of our theme, “A God who Cannot Lie” – everybody loves to be loved, but have you stopped to consider that even God loves to be loved? There is something in His great, eternal bosom that loves to hear us say, “Lord, I love you.” God will so fill your hearts with love that you will love everybody. Jesus’ love is true, and there is nothing about His love that is a lie. In the words of Jesus, “…I have declared unto them thy name [the Name of God, Jesus], and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them” (John 17:26). Beloved, when you experience the true love of God, you cannot lie either.

Precious Ones, consider this; many people lie because they want to live out their fantasies through fabrication of average events. For example, if they are privileged to go to Los Angeles, California, they wish that they could run into a movie star or professional athlete. So, instead of telling the truth, they would rather live out their fantasy by telling a lie that they had lunch with Elizabeth Taylor, Denzel Washington, or Shaquille O’Neal. Now, consider this; Christians don’t have to live out fantasies, nor do we have to lie, because the love of God already fulfills truthfully every fantasy, and needs no additional lies to make it a reality. Paul explains it this way – “…Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him” (I Corinthians 2:9). When you love Jesus, He fulfills all fantasies truthfully.

A God Who Cannot Lie (continued)

Beloved, in continuance of our theme, “A God who cannot lie” – I want to say that you are welcome to all that is in the world, but give me Jesus. Everything in the world is deception and full of it. Do not trust my words, but adhere to the truths of the scriptures. Solomon (the wisest of all biblical characters) said, “I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold [look], ALL is vanity [deceiving, empty] and vexation [angry, troublesome] of spirit” (Ecclesiastes 1:14). Beloved, this world is so deceitful. Jesus himself summarized this world as very little, even with all of the accoutrements of society. Jesus asked, “What [will] it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36) Beloved, I would rather be a child of “A God who cannot lie” than to be associated with people who are deceptive, because at least you can trust someone who tells the truth, no matter how bad things may be!! To be a prince, a king, a president, or a millionaire banker’s son who is deceptive renders no profit.

Precious Ones, if God Almighty “cannot lie” and His “Word[s]…shall stand forever” (Isaiah 40:8), then all of us who trust Him have a hope that is more valuable than tangible things. Now, do you see why, having built my case through scripture references, Peter said that we, as God’s elected, “are given…exceeding great and precious promises: that by [them] ye might be partakers of the divine nature [of Christ, who gets His way all the time by speaking something into existence truthfully], having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust” (2 Peter 1:4). Beloved, that is what makes God’s “promises” so “great” – we know they will always be true!

A God Who Cannot Lie (continued)

Beloved, in continuance of our theme, “A God who cannot lie” – A multitude may arise against you, but nothing can stop a soul that has faith in God. I cannot speak for you, but I personally have nothing else to live for but the Lord. I could not enjoy life without Jesus, after meeting and becoming acquainted with Him. I can even share this truth with you – I would rather be dead than not have Christ in my life. Not because I am so virtuous and an expert when it comes to priority, but because my history with God has taught me that “He will never lie” to me. God is so faithful and dependable. I have learned that you need not grumble nor murmur, just put your trust in the Lord. Truly Isaiah was right when he said, “…the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all [of our] faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the Lord hath spoken it” (Isaiah 25:8). Beloved, that means that the song writer was correct when he said, “Be not dismayed whatever be tide, ‘God’ will take care of you!” You can trust that “God will not lie about that.”

Precious Ones, now comes the definition of one of the most popular scriptures in the Holy Writ – “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4). Jesus explains this in Luke 12:15, “… for a man’s life consisteth NOT in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.” In other words, we do not exist by gold and silver, but by the word of God! When you walk with God, there will be times when you will surely “be alone,” but if the word of God is your possession, you will always have “life and more abundantly.”

I will write more next week.

I love you all so very much.

A God Who Cannot Lie (continued)

Beloved, in continuance of our theme, “A God who cannot Lie” – God will not lie, so I am determined (as we all should be) not to lie. Remember that God has saved us from “sore troubles” (Psalm 71:20-21), so we should strive to spare Him having any “troubles” out of us. Jesus did not call us to be His children just to lie to us. Neither did He call us out of the world to lie to us. Therefore, even though we are for the most part proud and arrogant creatures, Jesus did not lie when He said, “thou art mine” (Isaiah 43:1). He did not lie when He said, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” (Hebrews 13:5). Beloved, I am trying to remind you just how true God’s love is toward you. God goes on to say, “When thou passest through the waters [life], I will be with thee; and through the rivers [troubles of life], they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire [evil temptations of life], thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee [you will not suffer any psychological effects from your pain]” (Isaiah 43:2). In other words, God’s love is so pure and true to us that nothing will ever harm us. That’s why King David said, “The LORD is my rock, and my fortress [my protection], and my deliverer…in whom I will trust” (Psalm 18:2 and II Samuel 22:2-3).

Precious Ones, since we know that our God cannot lie, we can easily respond to the skeptics who ask, “How do you know that God is true to His word?” When faced with such a question, ask yourself at that moment, “Has God EVER lied to me in the past?” I am sure your answer is like mine – NEVER!!! Then you can respond confidently and positively, “God has a reputation that I can trust in and depend on!!!”

I will write more later.

A God Who Cannot Lie (continued)

Beloved, in continuance of our theme, “A God Who Cannot Lie” – Our God is so faithful and merciful unto us that we should not want Him to find a spot of wickedness in our lives. As children of God, we should want to keep everything in our lives clean and above board, and to be found walking before the Lord with a perfect heart. Remember, the scripture says, “Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart…” (Psalm 24:3-4). Our past should never meet us again, and we ought to say this with conviction, by the grace of God. Again, the Bible encourages this – “…let the weak say, I am strong” (Joel 3:10).

Precious Ones, since we serve “a God who cannot lie,” then when He inspires us from His Word, it should set our souls free from sin, and we should make sure that no transgressions accumulate to meet us before the Most High God. The inspired Word of God says that the Lord of Hosts “shall be for a sanctuary” (Isaiah 8:14). If God is our dwelling place, then we have enough power to live our lives to please Him.

Chosen Ones, we should hold to God’s unchangeable hand. If we know that God will never change and never lie to us, we should be determined not to lie to Him. Remember that “Jesus Christ [is] the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever” (Hebrews 13:8). Let us vow to stay close to His statutes and commandments.

A God Who Cannot Lie (continued)

Beloved, in continuance of our theme, “A God who cannot Lie” – we are taught that “the sea [will give] up the dead which were in it; and death and hell [cremated people] [will give] up the dead which were in them: and they [will be] judged every man according to their works…And…the dead, small and great, [shall] stand before God…” (Revelation 20:12-13). The voice of God will either say “Come, ye blessed…” (Matthew 25:34), or “Depart from me, ye cursed…” (Matthew 25:41). This teaches us that God will not lie about the punishments He will execute on disobedient vessels. Therefore, we, His children, should be excited that His promises to us are also true!

Precious Ones, we have read in scripture that God swore “by two immutable [unchangeable] things [His Word and His Name], in which it was impossible for God to lie, [so that] we might have a strong consolation [assurance]…” (Hebrews 6:17-18). These words should motivate all of us to believe that we will not leave this earth without fulfilling God’s purpose for our lives. Paul wrote, “…whom he [the Lord Jesus] did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified [declared just-as-if-I’d never sinned]: and whom he justified, them he also glorified” (Romans 8:30). So you see that God already sees the “glory” that is upon us all. God knows what challenges we must face in order to bring the “glory” out of us! Remember, if He said it, it is true, because He cannot lie.

Chosen Ones, I know we live in a day when men may idle away their time and walk the streets thinking, “If I could just win the lottery” or “If someone would just leave me an inheritance, I’ll be okay.” These are vain and idle desires and a waste of time. Let us, as God’s children, rest upon the sure promises found in His Word – promises that “are not lies”!

A God Who Cannot Lie (continued)

Beloved, in continuance of our theme, “A God who cannot Lie” – the whole purpose of this letter is for each reader to bear in mind the thought that “God cannot and will not lie.” Paul told Titus (one of his understudies in the Gospel) that he “[acknowledged] the truth which is after godliness...God…cannot lie…” (Titus 1:1-2). Beloved, what I like about God is that one of these days He will prove Himself to everyone – that His words are all true. Isaiah explains it this way; “the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it” (Isaiah 40:5). It does not matter whether people believe the word of God today or not; it does not matter whether they can stand it or not – all flesh must see the glory of the Lord.

Chosen Ones, wicked men will see it while righteous men have the reward of seeing it now. Why? “For the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.” The Lord created the just as well as the unjust. This also includes men who have committed suicide; they also must see “the glory of the Lord.” God will not lie! He will also not be denied in revealing His glory to any man! This is the truth as explained again by Paul to the church at Corinth: “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad” (II Corinthians 5:10).

Precious Ones, this means that we should not look to judge others. “[Why] dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ” (Romans 14:10). Christ is judging us all now to see how much we believe in Him and how much we trust Him. Think about this – how many of us can honestly say that God has proven to be faithful time and time again? If the answer is yes a trillion times over, then why should God not be angry at the human family for not trusting Him?

I will write more on this subject next week.

I adore each of you.

A God Who Cannot Lie (continued)

Beloved, I would like to continue writing on the subject “A God who cannot Lie.” God has given us the opportunity to let the serpent be bruised (Genesis 3:15). If anyone rejects this provision, then God, having kept His promise, will send judgment unto that soul which has sinned. Therefore, that soul must die. Remember, Ezekiel wrote that “the soul that sinneth, it shall die” (Ezekiel 18:20). Beloved, it is declared that “…all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). “[There] is none that doeth good, no, not one” (Psalm 14:3). Beloved, we also know that the only man on earth who never made a mistake, never committed a sin, and never dishonored Himself, is the man who was more than a man – Jesus Christ. The scripture tells us that “…there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (I Timothy 2:5). This teaches us that since Jesus was and is the Eternal Father God incarnate (in the flesh), He has the power to be perfect! Again, this is why God cannot lie – He is perfect and He can never make a mistake. Remember what I have often said to this church family – “If God is not God of all, He is not God at all.” This statement also includes being the God of perfection. Paul said that Jesus, our God, “…is the blessed and only Potentate [the One who is in control of everything], the King of kings, and Lord of lords” (I Timothy 6:15).

Chosen Ones, a terrible condemnation hangs over all human beings. They live their lives without the approval of Jesus’ commandment. This is why Paul said that the only ones who are not condemned are those who walk after Him. “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit” (Romans 8:1). God, who is not man, took our disfavor so that we might have fellowship with Him. In other words, a sinless God took on flesh to pay for the transgressions of a sinful world, because He considered our sinful, depraved selves His “peculiar treasure.” “…Ye [the children of Israel, both natural and spiritual] shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people…” (Exodus 19:5).

Precious Ones, God wants us to know that He cannot lie, but not for the purpose of grandeur or to compliment His own character. He does not need our validation. Rather, He wants to let us know that when He makes a promise to us, we should not worry about the outcome – that promise will come to pass. Christ came that we might know who we are – a “holy people,” a “city not forsaken” (Isaiah 62:12); and that we might obtain life eternal.

A God Who Cannot Lie (Part 1)

Beloved, I want to write to you from a fresh and new subject entitled “A God who cannot Lie.” Remember, the scripture teaches us that “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent” (Numbers 23:19). These words were spoken by Balaam, the prophet, as he went forth to curse Israel; but God took hold of his mouth and made him speak a word of blessing and prophecy instead. Beloved, according to the scriptures, this is our God’s “strength” – that He will not lie. “The Strength of Israel [the Lord] will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent” (I Samuel 15:29). What this means is that every word that comes from God’s mouth is a covenant, a promise-keeping word. If God has ever made a promise to you, He gives you His guarantee that He will never repent (or fail you in whatever He has spoken); nor will He turn back from doing what He has promised. Remember, He told Habakkuk, the worship leader and prophet of Israel, that “the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come...” (Habakkuk 2:3).

Chosen Ones, I believe here is where we should consider our challenge. Consider this – it’s not that God won’t keep His promise; it’s that we, His children, often won’t wait until His promise is fully prepared by Him to be manifested. Oh – that’s good! You need to read that line one more time.

Precious Ones, in the book of Malachi, it is written, “I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed” (Malachi 3:6). We are all Sons of Jacob who came through the lineage of Jesus Christ. We have been birthed through Jesus’ blood by the Baptism of water and of the Holy Ghost. All of the saints (the Sons of Jacob) have failed the Lord Jesus so miserably that, in justice, we should be consumed. However, we serve a “God who cannot lie.” He forever remembers the promise He made to Satan – “I will put enmity [division] between thee and the woman, and between thy seed [evil] and her seed [good]; it shall bruise thy head…” (Genesis 3:15). In other words, the reason we are alive today is because God promised to preserve our seed (our lives).

Principles of the Doctrine of Christ: Eternal Judgement (conclusion)

Beloved, I want to conclude writing on the topic “Eternal Judgment” from our “Principles of the Doctrine of Christ” series. We learn from the scriptures the truth of eternal judgment as taught by the Word of God – “And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened [their memory was released]: and another book was opened, which is the book of life [their conscience]: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books [they will be judged according to the deeds they will remember doing while they were alive], according to their works [this is the proof that I’m speaking the truth!]. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it [no one will escape, even those whose bodies were lost at sea]; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them [those whose bodies were cremated or scorched beyond recognition]: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death [the first death is the torment of awaiting judgment!]. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:12-15; see also Revelation 14:9-11 and Isaiah 66:22-24).

Precious Ones, as you can see through examination of scripture, no one will be elusive enough to escape God’s anger and wrath on that day (which is sure to come)! My prayer is that God will count us all worthy to escape all of these things, and that we all stand before Jesus on that day, righteous and permitted to enter into “the joy of [the] Lord” (heaven – Matthew 25:21).

Chosen Ones, the only chance we have to escape God’s eternal judgment sentence is to walk before Him as best as we can, with a pure, undefiled conscience! If there is something you are doing that is condemning your conscience, STOP IT before it’s too late! Remember what the scripture teaches us “…if our heart [our conscience] condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things” (I John 3:20).

Principles of the Doctrine of Christ: Eternal Judgement (continued)

Beloved, in continuance of our theme from the “Principles of the Doctrine of Christ” series, entitled “Eternal Judgment” – Jesus teaches us that “When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats [He shall judge all the nations – see Jude 15]: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: And these shall go away…into life eternal” (Matthew 25:31-34, 46). These scriptures teach us that only a certain portion of God’s creation will inherit “eternal life.” Remember, the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ led me to preach on the subject “He is Preparing Me” on Sunday, August 3. The Lord is preparing you and me because His Kingdom has already been prepared (made ready) for us since before the “foundation of the world.”

Precious Ones, unfortunately, Jesus does not stop there, but goes on to describe the judgment of the unrighteous: “Then shall [Jesus] say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels” (Matthew 25:41). Jesus also speaks of the Day of Judgment in other scriptures (see Matthew 5:21-22, Matthew 10:15, Matthew 12:36-41, and Luke 11:31). Beloved, there are many “left-hand” creations of God who need to straighten up their lives. In the event that they refuse to be obedient, they will never experience eternal life. Remember, God did not put “left-hand” creatures in His plans for the new Kingdom of heaven and earth.

Chosen Ones, Jesus inspired me to write this letter to encourage us all not to give up our citizenship and passport to His eternal Kingdom. Let us not allow sin and disobedience to place us in company with those who will inherit eternal destruction. Remember that what our God told Jeremiah is what He now tells us: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected [prepared and anticipated] end” (Jeremiah 29:11). Stay with God and your end will be better than your beginning.

Principles of the Doctrine of Christ: Eternal Judgement (continued)

Beloved, in continuance of our theme from the “Principles of the Doctrine of Christ” series, entitled “Eternal Judgment” – it must be understood that in the Eternity Dispensation (the timeless period), God “will render unto every man according to his deeds: To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life” (Romans 2:6-7). Notice that this life is only for those who seek glory, honor, and immortality. In other words, people who are shallow in their thinking, and who seek only after temporary perishable blessings, will never inherit eternal life.

Precious Ones, according to the apostle Paul, “unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, [God will render] indignation and wrath” (Romans 2:8). In other words, those who are disobedient to the truth and responsive to wickedness shall reap the anger and punishment (judgment) of the Lord. Paul further teaches that “tribulation and anguish [shall be] upon every soul of man that [has done] evil [without confession or repentance]…for there is no respect of persons with God. For as many as have sinned…shall be judged…in the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel” (Romans 2:9-12, 16). Therefore, Beloved, we must be honest now, while we have a chance to redeem our sinful ways. There is nothing that can be kept secret from God. The Psalmist penned, “thou understandest my thought[s] afar off” (Psalm 139:2). There is no need for Christians to experience “eternal judgment.” If you have a healthy, consistent prayer life, all of your “secrets” should be discussed with God on a daily basis!

Chosen Ones, God will leave everyone without excuse. There will be no exceptions to the rule of the scriptures. Therefore, those of us who know what God requires should feel blessed that we can increase in knowledge, instead of abusing that knowledge or taking it for granted! Paul teaches us that “when the Gentiles [sinners], which have not the law [who are not thoroughly instructed in the Word], do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves [they shall be judged by the wrongs that they have knowingly committed]” (Romans 2:14). This clearly shows God’s way of judgment, even of those who “have not the law” (the concepts of the Bible). Hence, all will be judged!

Principles of the Doctrine of Christ: Eternal Judgement (continued)

Beloved, in continuance of our theme from the “Principles of the Doctrine of Christ” series, entitled “Eternal Judgment”, we learn from the scriptures that “when (the Lord) shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe”, the Lord will simultaneously “(punish) with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord” those who are outside the ark of safety (II Thessalonians 1:9-10). What this means, Beloved, is that disobedient beings will receive the same sentence as the devil’s angels (the angels that have fallen from heaven). On the Great Day of Judgment, the Lord God Himself will cast the angels that sinned down to hell, and will deliver them “into chains of darkness (along with every disobedient soul), to be reserved unto the judgment of the great day” (II Peter 2:4, Jude 1:6). But, the good news is that “The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished” (II Peter 2:9). In other words, we, as saints, will never have to experience “eternal judgment” - only “eternal life”. The saints are “judging” themselves right now!

Precious Ones, we are taught to “judge ourselves” by the convictions of nature and by the Holy Spirit. Some things are not lawful for a saint to be involved in. Saints don’t have to wait to be “judged” - the Holy Spirit is our live-in Judge. He will condemn us about every-day choices, through God’s Word. For example, Paul asks the Corinthian Church, “Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered (naked or half dressed)? (Then he asks them) Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering” (I Corinthians 11:13-15).

Chosen Ones, I love God’s “principles”, because they make sense. It would be ignorant for God to “judge” us twice, when His Word serves as our Judge now! Beloved, we are taught how the judgment of God takes place. As Paul taught us, “we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things (as violations against biblical principles)” (Romans 2:2). Then, Paul explains, “thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God” (Romans 2:5). In other words, those who will experience God’s anger and fury are those who disregard his promise to show His wrath, take Him lightly, and turn a deaf ear to His “revelations of righteousness”. Beloved, this is not the description of those of us who have faith in God’s Word and have reverential fear of His commandments. We will escape His “Eternal Judgment”!

I will write more next week.

Principles of the Doctrine of Christ: Eternal Judgement (continued)

Beloved, in continuance of our theme from the “Principles of the Doctrine of Christ” series, entitled “Eternal Judgment,” – Revelation 20:11 teaches us that the “Eternal Judgment” sentence for the rest of the dead, the ones who failed to take part in the first resurrection (the rapture of the saints), must have their final judgment at the “great white throne” – “And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; [because] there was found no place for them.” You see, Beloved, as I told you last week, there will be “no place” in eternity for sinful people to go but Hell, because every space will be redecorated with perfect holiness and cleanliness. In “Eternity” God will not alter any sin to contaminate His “new heaven and…new earth” (Revelation 21:1).

Precious Ones, we see Satan as he comes to his judgment and is “cast…into a lake of fire burning with brimstone” and “his body [is] destroyed” (Revelations 19:20 and Daniel 7:11). “The beast and the false prophet” (Satan and the Anti-Christ) are both “cast alive into [the] lake of fire” at the beginning of the thousand years after having been slain by the Sword of the Lord. Beloved, this is the wrong place for you or your loved ones. As God’s children, let us pray night and day that every acquaintance we meet will not experience this dreadful fate.

Chosen Ones, during the dispensation of “Eternal Judgment,” the Lord Jesus will come to punish the inhabitants of the pre-existing world and to rid this world of sinners before the thousand years of peace. When you have time let your daily scripture reading include Jude vs. 14-15; Isaiah 13:9 and 26:20-21; 2 Peter 3:10; and 2 Thessalonians 1:8. Beloved, you will clearly see that there is a sentence to be executed on them “who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power” (2 Thessalonians 1:9).

Children of God, this should not be the fate of us or our loved ones; nor should it be the fate of those who are acquainted with us. We should experience “everlasting life,” not “everlasting death.” Let us judge ourselves now so that we will not be judged later. God sends these scriptural warnings to prevent us from this horrible experience. Let us take “heed to the things which we have heard…[and not] let them slip [out of our minds]” (Hebrews 2:1).

Principles of the Doctrine of Christ: Eternal Judgement (continued)

Beloved, in continuance of our theme “Eternal Judgment” from our series the “Principles of the Doctrine of Christ” – according to the scriptures, “Hell” is a very real place, and, from the teachings of Jesus, “Hell fire” appears to be a continuous, everlasting place. Let us pay undivided attention to what He says – “it is better for thee to enter halt [lame] into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell…fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched [or put out]” (Mark 9:42-48). In other words, Beloved, the normal skin “worms” that eat the flesh off dead bodies will not be effective in Hell. You must remember that God did not prepare this “Eternal Judgment” for His human creation; “Hell” was prepared for “the devil and his angels.” Also remember, Beloved, that the only one who can sentence you to Hell, is the only one who knows if you deserve to go – and that is Jesus. This is why Matthew teaches us, “Then [meaning during eternity] shall he [not they] say also unto them [the candidates for hell]…Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels” (Matthew 25:41).

Precious Ones, some ask the question quite often, “If God is as good a God as you Christians say, why does he feel it is necessary to send people to Hell who disobey his commandments and teachings? Why Hell? Can’t he send them somewhere else?” Beloved, the answer is simple – No, he cannot send sinners anywhere else in eternity! There is nowhere else for them to go in eternity but “Hell.” Remember, every space that God will inhabit (which is everywhere) shall be redone, redecorated with splendiferous beauty and perfection. In eternity, there will be nothing sinful. This is why John said, “I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away” (Revelation 21:1).

So, Chosen Ones, this letter ought to encourage you to continue to strive to live holy. Every sacrifice you are making right now to be obedient to “God’s Commandments and Teachings” is helping you escape the “Eternal Judgment” that violators will face in eternity.

Principles of the Doctrine of Christ: Eternal Judgement (continued)

Beloved, in continuance of our theme “Eternal Judgment” from our series the “Principles of the Doctrine of Christ” – there are many scriptures that highlight “Eternal Judgment” (Revelation 18:8-10, 2 Peter 2:6, Genesis 6:13, and Matthew 21:33-31 just to name a few). Yet none of these are considered “Eternal Judgments” that take place in this life, and there is no change in the creatures’ natural status as in the judgment to come. What I’m saying, Beloved, is that the Apostle Paul taught that there is a “judgment” to come, “it is appointed [arranged by God] unto men once to die, but after this The Judgment” (Hebrews 9:27). Beloved, this clearly shows us that there is a “judgment” after death, but those that took part in the “first resurrection: on such the second death [judgment] hath no power” as they are to reign with Christ (Revelation 20:6).

Precious Ones, we do not find another “judgment” mentioned after this one in the word of God, neither do we find any change of conditions. In other words, this is proof in itself that this is the “Eternal Judgment” spoken of in the Bible that we must reverence with fear. Everything seems to come into its eternal sphere or state. Jesus puts it this way; He proved the judgment of two kinds of people to be “eternal.” In Jesus’ eyes, those two groups are considered “righteous and wicked.” Jesus says, “But whoso[ever] shall offend one of these little ones [infant Christians] which believe in me, it were better for him [her] that a millstone [heaviest stone] were hanged about his [her] neck, and that he [she] were drowned in the depths of the sea…it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed [crippled or paralyzed], rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire” (Matthew 18:6-9).

Chosen Ones, remember that Jesus considers “wheat” as righteous and “tares” as wicked and He teaches us through one of His parables that He believes in letting the “wheat and the tares” “both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest [Eternal Judgment] [He] will say to the reapers [the saints that will execute judgment according to Jude verses 14 and 15] Gather…the tares…and burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn” (Matthew 13:24-30). This means, Beloved, that many hypocritical Christians are among the righteous, but it is not our job to judge who is right or wrong. God will separate the real saints in “Eternal Judgment.”

Principles of the Doctrine of Christ: Eternal Judgement (continued)

Beloved, in continuance of our theme “Eternal Judgment” from our series the “Principles of the Doctrine of Christ” – there are many judgments; some are probationary (or corrective) dating all the way back to Genesis through Revelation. God’s first recorded “judgment” is found in Genesis 3:14, “Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed…” Beloved, this teaches us that God will hand out “judgment” against sins. This is why Paul said, “For if [ye] would judge [yourself], [ye] [will] not be judged [in eternity]” (1 Corinthians 11:31).

Precious Ones, Peter told us to look at past examples of God’s “judgment” – “turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly” (2 Peter 2:6). Peter tells us that this is the example of God’s judgment of punishment. Beloved, you don’t want God to show you that when you sin He can “overthrow” you and make you an “example” for others to fear to be obedient to Him.

Chosen Ones, Jesus teaches us that he will “judge” this earth based upon how they treat men such as myself, who carry his Word in their mouth! Jesus said, “Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes [teachers of the Word]: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and…scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: That upon you [who discredit their authority] may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias [the prophet who wrote the Book of Zachariah] son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar” (Matthew 23:34-35). This teaches us that when we can’t receive the word from the man of God, God will be our Judge! I’m so glad that the AHFC family is obedient to their Pastor.

Principles of the Doctrine of Christ: Eternal Judgement (Part 1)

Beloved, I feel inspired to write on a new subject in our “Principles of the Doctrine of Christ” series, entitled, “Eternal Judgment.” If you remember, when we wrote to you on the subject entitled “The Resurrection from the Dead,” we shared with you that there was to be a resurrection of the unjust as well as the just. Remember, we studied the judgment of the just and found that they were to “ever be with the Lord” (I Thessalonians 4:17). Well, in this lesson, we will study the final “judgment” of the nations that are not included in the first resurrection. It must always be remembered that the saints passed from their “eternal judgment” when they appeared at the Judgment Seat of Christ. This is why Paul tells us not to judge one another (as children of God). He writes, “Why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ” (Romans 14:10). Understand, Beloved, that we will not receive a “judgment” of punishment, as those who failed to serve Him before the “Rapture.” This is why Jesus tells us that we, the disciples and the saints, shall “be blessed…for [we shall] be recompensed [rewarded] at the resurrection of the just” (Luke 14:14).

Precious Ones, Jesus even sheds light on the Christians’ emotional state during the period of “eternal judgment.” He shares with me that during that time, I will not even remember Lady McCoy as my wife – there will be none of the emotional ties that exist now. As Jesus teaches, “…in the resurrection, whose wife is she? The children of this world [now] marry, and are given in marriage: But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world [the world of eternal life], and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage [in other words, there will be no husbands or wives in heaven]: Neither can they die any more: for they [will be] equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the [first] resurrection” (Luke 20:33-36). This teaches us, Beloved, that God deals with the righteous and the wicked right here and now! God’s mercy and grace will only be accessed now! The moment we enter into the “Eternal Judgment” dispensation, everything will change, including the fact that there will be no mercy and grace from God.

Principles of the Doctrine of Christ: The Doctrine of Baptism (conclusion)

Beloved, in conclusion of our series of letters from the “Principles of the Doctrine of Christ,” we end the topic of “The Doctrine of Baptisms.” Paul is very specific when commenting on one receiving “water baptism” or the washing of regeneration (see Titus 3:5). He states to the church at Corinth, “And such were some of you [you were fornicators, adulterers, thieves and drunkards]: but [you are now] washed, [you] are sanctified, [and you] are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God” (I Corinthians 6:11). This teaches us that baptism in Jesus’ Name is, without question, essential to the “sanctification” and the “justification” of salvation, and can in no way be ignored.

Chosen Ones, we become identified with Jesus in death by baptism. If there is no act or sign of baptism in God’s eyes and in His Word, there is no act or sign of belief that he died and rose again. Paul, in his day, had to deal with certain Christians who were baptizing for the wrong reasons. In his letter to the Corinthian Church, Paul rebukes the concept of baptizing for the dead, instead of baptizing as a sign of Jesus’ death and resurrection. He states, “what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all?” (I Corinthians 15:29). In other words, a dead man cannot be affected by baptism. The dead do not know what has been done to them after death! So, Paul continues by asking, “why are they then baptized for the dead?” (I Corinthians 15:29) This is why, Beloved, we who are living must show God and the world that we believe in Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection through baptism in water. Now, I know that some may say, “That is not necessary, and as long as I believe in my heart that Christ was raised – I don’t have to get wet!” But, I implore you to revisit the scriptures concerning this matter. First of all, James says that “faith without works is dead” (James 2:20). Secondly, Paul states that “we are buried with him by baptism into death…our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed” (Romans 6:3-6).

Precious Ones, all of this information tells us that after our estrangement from God brought on by our sins, we as Christians are only restored or reconciled to favor through baptism. Now, we are told how to put off the body of sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ. Paul says that the “circumcision of Christ [means being] buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God” (Colossians 2:11-13).

Children of God, in my conclusion of this subject – yes, there must be faith in the heart of a candidate for salvation in order for “baptism” to operate. You must take God at His Word, and obey the concept of baptism by immersion in water in the Name of Jesus. I leave you with these final scriptures. Read them during your daily meditation on the subject; Colossians 3:16-17, Mark 16:16, John 7:38-39, Acts 2:38, Acts 16:15, and Acts 19:1-6.

I love you all so very much.

Beloved, in continuance of our theme from the “Principles of the Doctrine of Christ” series, entitled “The Doctrine of Baptisms” – the Spirit is the witness of our salvation, and no one should ever feel that they were saved without it. When you have time, read John 15:26, I John 5:6-13, Romans 8:16, and Galatians 4:6. Beloved, we are complete in Him (Jesus) only as the work of the resurrection is wrought in our hearts. Again, read Colossians 2:12, II Corinthians 1:21-22, and I Corinthians 6:11.

Precious Ones, “baptism” is so important that Paul uses its metaphor when expounding on the importance of having a diet of God’s Word. Paul says that Jesus gave Himself for the church “that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word” (Ephesians 5:26). If the church is ever to be cleansed it must be according to the Word. Some don’t agree with the virtue of water “baptism,” but this doesn’t mean that the virtue isn’t there when used as directed. When water “baptism” is administered in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, with faith in a pure heart, it causes an operation of God that purifies. Peter puts it this way – “Baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ” (I Peter 3:21). In other words, “baptism” does not rid you of the desires of the flesh, but it does symbolize that your soul (conscience) is cleansed by the association between the act of resurrection performed by Jesus Christ and your act of “baptism” by faith!

Chosen Ones, this same apostle knew the importance of baptism – he was commanded by Jesus Christ to receive the Holy Ghost in the Name of the Lord (Acts 10:44-48). Remember, Ananias told Saul (before his name change), “Arise, and be baptized, and wash away [your] sins” (Acts 22:16). Again, Beloved, this shows that baptism was used to wash away sins. So, we can understand why the apostle taught this as one of the “principles of the Doctrine of Christ.” In the Book of Titus, he called it “the washing of [the] regeneration” (Titus 3:5).

Children of God, I will write more on this subject next week. Until then, Happy Father’s Day. Men, you deserve this celebration. To all of you,

I love you all SO very much.

Principles of the Doctrine of Christ: The Doctrine of Baptism (continued)

Beloved, in continuance of our theme from our “Principles of the Doctrine of Christ” series entitled, “The Doctrine of Baptism” – it’s time to teach about the second baptism highlighted in scripture, and that is the doctrine of the “Baptism of the Spirit.” Precious Ones, the scriptures teach us, “by one spirit are we all baptized into one body” (I Corinthians 12:13). Don’t be confused, Beloved, to be “born of the spirit” (John 3:5) is the same as being “baptized in the spirit.” According to the Book of Acts, Peter and John came to the Samaritans and “baptized them with water,” then “laid…hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost” (Acts 8:14-17). In addition, the Gospel according to John (see John 3:22) teaches that Jesus baptized his twelve disciples with water and they received the indwelling gift of the Holy Ghost after the resurrection. According to the 19th chapter of Acts, Paul baptized the Ephesians, then he “laid hands on them” and they “received the Holy Ghost.”

Chosen Ones, the way to put on Christ is to be baptized into Him by the Spirit (study Romans 13:14 and Galatians 3:27 together). Again, baptism is explained as something that must not only be done of water, but of the Spirit, “in the heart” and “not in the letter” of the law (Romans 2:29). Beloved, the spiritual birth is just as necessary as the water birth because of its significance. As Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of his fatherly (godly) deity, so even we (in this generation) also should walk in the newness of life, since we are saved by “his life” and not by (our) works (Romans 6:4; 5:10). Beloved, Jesus’ greatest achievement in “His life” was being raised by the Spirit and in the Spirit! Remember, after resurrection, he walked through doors (John 20:26). In the same way, we can, through the Spirit, walk through any door that our enemies shut in our faces. But remember, you must have the baptism of His Spirit to do what He did!!

I will write more on this subject next week. Until then, know this – I truly appreciate each and every one of you. None of you can ever be replaced in my eyes.

I love you all so very much.

Principles of the Doctrine of Christ: The Doctrine of Baptism (continued)

Beloved, in continuance of our theme from the “Principles of the Doctrine of Christ” series, entitled The Doctrine of Baptisms, I would like to start where we left off last week by writing on the subject, The Baptism of Water. In the beginning of the Gospel, John preached “the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins” (Luke 3:3, Acts 13:24). Jesus told His disciples that “repentance and remission of sins should be preached in [my] name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem” (Luke 24:47). Peter did this on the Day of Pentecost (see Acts 2). Thus, baptism for the remission (removal) of sin should be preached in every nation under the heaven, to this day.

Precious Ones, Philip (the deacon) went to Samaria, and “when [people] believed [the] preaching [of] the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized...” (Acts 8:12); not with the Holy Spirit only, but in water in the Name of the Lord Jesus. It is shown in the events of this chapter that water baptism was not only a sign of inward purity and proof that an individual’s sins were remitted, but also that baptism was only efficacious when practiced in faith with a repentant heart.

Chosen Ones, I told you last week that I want to highlight two baptisms – (1) the Baptism of Water and (2) the Baptism of the Spirit. I will write about the second baptism next week.

I love you all SO very much.

Pastor William L. McCoy

Principles of the Doctrine of Christ: The Doctrine of Baptism (continued)

Beloved, in continuance of our theme from the “Principles of the Doctrine of Christ” series, entitled “The Doctrine of Baptisms” – according to scripture, “there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews” (John 2:6). Beloved, scripture also records that “then there arose a question between some of John's disciples and the Jews about purifying. And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi,…[Jesus,] to whom thou barest witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all men come to him” (John 3:25-26). I mention this point because this clearly shows that they identified baptism with their washing. In the eyes of those disciples, you were not purified or cleansed unless you were baptized with water! Beloved, I don’t know how the modern church strayed off course, teaching Christians in this era that you don’t have to be baptized in order to have your sins purified or cleansed. According to the scriptures, this teaching is wrong. We must recognize that baptism is necessary and important and that it must be considered on its merits.

Precious Ones, let us understand the merit of baptism through the scriptures. Peter used the illustration of Noah and his family being saved from the flood to point out to us the importance of baptism. Peter says “…eight souls were saved by water…[in] like figure…even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by [emulating or repeating, in type] the resurrection of Jesus Christ” (I Peter 3:20-21). So, you see that baptism is more than taking a bath – it is a sign of faith that you are willing to die the same death as Jesus and rise to new life as Jesus did. In the process, your conscience is made right toward God and your sins are removed, just as Jesus’ death atonement reversed our banishment from His glorious presence and ushered us into the portals of His glory.

Chosen Ones, in the Gospel of Mark, John preached the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins, but he preached from two subjects – baptism of water and baptism of the spirit. Next week, with the help of the Holy Spirit, we will divide the subject of baptism into two parts – the baptism of water and the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

I love you all more than you’ll ever know.
In His love,

Pastor William L. McCoy

Principles of the Doctrine of Christ: The Doctrine of Baptism (Part 1)

Beloved, I feel inspired to write unto you from our “Principles of the Doctrine of Christ” series on a new theme entitled, “The Doctrine of Baptisms.” This is an area of biblical theology that has ignited much controversy and debate. However, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we will only share with our church family the views found in the Holy Writ.

Precious Ones, the Doctrine of Baptisms was as much in evidence in the Old Testament as in the New. However, in the Old Testament this doctrine “stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them [the Old Testament saints] until the time of reformation” (Hebrews 9:10). In the New Testament we were given the gift of Jesus Christ, our Savior. “Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle…” (Hebrews 9:11). In the same chapter Paul says, “For this cause he [Jesus] is the mediator [between the Old Testament and] …the New Testament, that by means of [his] death…they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance” (Hebrews 9:15). In other words, Paul is saying that through Jesus’ death on Calvary we have access to redemption through baptism. When we simply obey God’s command to be immersed in water in Jesus’ Name, our Lord combines (mediates) both the Old and New Testament laws on our behalf.

Chosen Ones, in the Book of Hebrews, the apostle Paul draws from the laws of Israel as recorded in the book of Exodus, where it is written, “The Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Thou shalt also make a laver [bowl] of brass…to wash withal…and thou shalt put it between the tabernacle [the holy place] of the congregation and the altar [which was in the most holy place], and thou shalt put water therein. For Aaron [the high priest] and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet thereat: When they go into the tabernacle of the congregation, they shall wash with water, that they die not” (Exodus 30:17-20). Beloved, from these statements, it can be clearly seen that the washings of the Old Testament were the equivalent of the baptisms in the New Testament. Beloved, if you don’t want to “die” in sin, if you want access to the “most holy” God, you must wash or be baptized!

I will write more on this subject next week. Until then, know this,

I love you all so very much.

Principles of the Doctrine of Christ: The Resurrection of the Dead (conclusion)

Beloved, in conclusion of our theme from the “Principles of the Doctrine of Christ” series, entitled “The Resurrection of the Dead” – we are blessed because we don’t have to lose our lives for the Word of God and the testimony which our forefathers held. Yet, we shall be resurrected to eternal life nonetheless! Remember, John said, “Blessed…is he that hath part in the first resurrection…and shall reign with him [Jesus] a thousand years” (Revelation 20:6). Beloved, is there any brighter hope offered by anyone other than our God?

Precious Ones, what I love about Jesus is that it makes no difference how small you may seem in men’s eyes today; when He resurrects us, men will know that we are special in His eyes. In the same way, no matter how small a sin may seem in the eyes of men, it is still great in the eyes of the Lord (the only eyes that count), and will not go unnoticed; every sinner will be punished. John said again, “I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God…the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they [all sinners great and small] were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death” (Revelation 20:10-15).

Chosen Ones, this general judgment so often spoken of and referred to by men is also described by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in the scriptures. Jesus teaches us that “[sinners] these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal” (Matthew 25:31-46).

Children of God, as I close this series, I leave you with this thought – wouldn’t you rather have faith in Jesus and trust Him to resurrect you from the dead, than doubt the resurrection and have to find out that your mistake cost you eternal life? Only Lucifer (Satan) should have to suffer that eternal mistake.

I will write on a new topic next week.

I love you all SO very much.

Principles of the Doctrine of Christ: The Resurrection of the Dead (continued))

Beloved, in continuance of our theme entitled “The Resurrection of the Dead,” from the “Principles of the Doctrine of Christ” series – the great apostle Paul had a desire to know him (Jesus) in the power of his resurrection and fellowship of his suffering. Being made “conformable unto His death” would motivate a desire to attain the knowledge of how Jesus can “resurrect the dead.” Paul goes on to say that at the time of the “resurrection” our vile bodies shall be changed, “that [they] may be fashioned like unto his [Jesus’] glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able…to subdue all things unto himself” (Phillipians 3:10-11, 21). Beloved, this means that the greatness of God’s power shall be manifested when the “resurrection” takes place. That’s when all the world will know just how mighty our God really is.

Precious Ones, it is my prayer that God will help us to cherish the hope of the “resurrection” and contend with our enemy in order to help others attain unto it. Remember, Paul said, “we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, [a] house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens” (II Corinthians 5:1). Beloved, Paul’s knowledge of the resurrection of the dead gave him the confidence to maintain his hope and desire for that day. He did not desire so much to be unclothed (to die), but to be clothed upon (to have new life), that “mortality might be swallowed up [in] life” (II Corinthians 5:2-5). There seems to have been but one thing motivating this saint (Paul), and that was the resurrection.

Chosen Ones, God wrought us for the resurrection. Beloved, it is up to us to see that we lose not that which we have wrought. When you have time this week, read these scriptures: II Corinthians 5, II John 8, and Phillipians 3:12. Beloved, if we fail to attain to the resurrection, Christ has died in VAIN for us, all our work is vain, and we are yet in our sins. However, Beloved, I don’t want to be lost, nor do I want Christ to die in vain when it comes to my soul, and you shouldn’t either! Beloved, this was all in the purpose of God, that we should hope in the “resurrection.”

Children of God, Jesus taught us that our greatest rewards will come at the “resurrection.” Jesus said, “thou shalt be blessed; for they [the world] cannot recompense [reward] thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just [the Rapture of the Saints]” (Luke 14:14).

I will write more on this subject next Sunday. Until then, know this,

Principles of the Doctrine of Christ: The Resurrection of the Dead (continued))

Beloved, in continuance of our theme from our “Principles of the Doctrine of Christ” series, entitled “The Resurrection of the Dead” – some will ask, “how are they raised up?” “And what body will they use to raise themselves?” Paul provides the answers to these questions in I Corinthians 15:35-50. First of all, Paul explains that no one can “raise themselves – Jesus will raise” us! Because “he made us” (John 1:3) and He determined when to allow each man to die (to be “planted”). So, therefore, He (Jesus) can give us a new body and “raise” us when He pleases. Paul explains (in I Corinthians 15) that “Thou sowest not that body that shall be…But God giveth it a body as it has pleased him.” Beloved, “the body” given is determined by the seed sown. Only God will make the choice whether to give us a body fashioned for eternal life or eternal death. Only God will make the choice whether a person will be raised to life (the first “Resurrection”) or to death (the second “Resurrection”). This is why Paul explains further, “So also is the Resurrection of the Dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption.” (However you die, meaning your spiritual state, will be the way you are raised.) “It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body.” There is a “natural body,” Beloved, and there is a “spiritual body.” I believe the Apostle Paul settles any confusion on this theological point when he says, “The first man is of the earth [natural body]… the second man is [of] the Lord from heaven. As is the [earthly], such are they also that are [earthly]: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.” Finally, Paul says, “As we have borne the image of the [earthly], we SHALL ALSO BEAR THE IMAGE of the Heavenly.”

Precious Ones, be not deceived – no man will rise up differently (in his spiritual state) than he laid down. Again, it is confirmed by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that when a person’s “time is at hand [the time to die] he that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still” (Revelation 22:10-11).

Chosen Ones, until next week, I will conclude with this thought – since the corruptible flesh will not inherit incorruption (eternal life) let us obey the words of Paul. Let us “put off the old man with his deeds, and put on the new man which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him” (Colossians 3:9-10, Ephesians 4:22-24).

I love you all SO very much.
Yours because of Christ,

Principles of the Doctrine of Christ: The Resurrection of the Dead (continued))

Beloved, today we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is only fitting that we continue this series of letters from our “Principles of the Doctrine of Christ” Series, entitled “The Resurrection of the Dead.” Beloved, those who are without hope grieve because their loved ones have been taken away. This is why the apostle Paul encourages us not to be “ignorant…concerning them which are asleep [those who have died in Christ].” Paul says, “Sorrow not…as others which have no hope” (I Thessalonians 4:13). Why? Because “if [we as Christians] believe that Jesus died and rose again, [we expect Him to bring all of them that] sleep in Jesus with him [when He comes]” (I Thessalonians 4:14). Again, Beloved, let us draw our conclusions from the Word of God. Scripture teaches us the purpose of Christ’s death. “To this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he [Jesus] might be Lord both of the dead and the living” (Romans 14:9). Finally, we learn that it is God’s will for us to benefit from His resurrection. Jesus “died for us, whether we [are awake] or sleep, [so that] we should live together with him” (I Thessalonians 5:10). Scripture also records that “God hath both raised up the Lord, and [He] will also raise up us by his own power” (I Corinthians 6:14). Beloved, this means that all Christians are supposed to live a victorious life. If we “live with him,” this means that as He lives, our lives ought to emulate His. If Jesus reigns over all things, let us rejoice over the fact that we do too! Today, we have the same power that He has. We are “the present” that God will present to Himself (see II Corinthians 4:14).

I will write more on this subject next week. Until then, know this…

Sunday, April 13, 2003

Beloved, in continuance of our theme from the “Principles of the Doctrine of Christ” series, entitled “The Resurrection of the Dead” – this topic is fitting as we celebrate Palm Sunday. You must understand that it was because of the hope of the resurrection that Paul was called into question and finally sent to Rome to make an appeal before Caesar. On Paul’s way to his audience with Caesar, he stood before Felix (the governor of Judea) and said, “I confess unto thee [that my fathers have] hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust” (Acts 24:14-15). Beloved, at some point, everyone will be raised from the dead. However, those of us who are partakers of the first resurrection (the Rapture) will be raised to live a life of eternal joy, but those who are raised in the second resurrection will be raised for judgment and eternal damnation! According to the scriptures, “blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power” (Revelation 20:6).

Precious Ones, when Paul met King Agrippa (King of the Judean Region), Paul said to him, “Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?” (Acts 26:8). When Paul finally arrived in Rome to address Caesar (the Roman Emperor) and his magistrates, Paul said, “When the Jews spake against [my faith in Jesus’ resurrection], I was constrained [prompted] to appeal unto Caesar…For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because that for the hope of Israel [being raised to see Jesus face to face in eternal life] I am bound with this chain” (Acts 28:19-20).
Chosen Ones, today, many people think it incredible that Jesus was raised from the dead. They do not share our faith that just as God can raise Jesus, so He can raise them out of every challenge. In their doubt, they will try to keep us from achieving our spiritual and physical goals. Remember, however, that because of the resurrection, we can now do “all things through Christ which strengtheneth (us)” (Philippians 4:13).

I will write more on this subject for Easter Sunday. Until then, know this,

I love you all SO very much,
Because He was raised,

Principles of the Doctrine of Christ: The Resurrection of the Dead (continued))

Beloved, in continuance of our theme from the “Principles of the Doctrine of Christ” series, entitled “The Resurrection of the Dead,” let me say this to you – while many may accept some other doctrine, the Word teaches no other doctrine on resurrection than simply raising dead people by the power of God! The belief that God had the power to raise the dead was one of the “anchors of the soul” mentioned by Paul in the Book of Hebrews. It was the anchor “of the soul” for men who served God in other ages, and I believe that if it is taught from the Word of God today, we will stand even as tall as they stood – having faith in the power of the Word.

Precious Ones, there were some in Paul’s day that erred from the truth as they do today. Some in the apostle’s time were “saying that the resurrection is past already” (II Timothy 2:18). These people tried to “overthrow the faith of some” by getting rid of those who taught or believed in the resurrection of the saints. However, in the very next verse, Paul said that the doctrine of resurrection is the “foundation” of our Christian faith. As Paul elegantly explained, “…the foundation of God standeth sure” (II Timothy 2:19). This means that if we want to stand on a sure foundational truth, we must believe that God has the ability to raise dead things to life! It was a departure from the truth to teach that the resurrection was past, and I say that this doctrine is as destructive to the faith as any other false doctrine of this day.

Chosen Ones, those who believe and teach that God has “already” manifested His resurrection, and that no one else will experience “resurrection,” fall into the category described in the Book of II Timothy. These people “(have) a form of godliness, but (deny) the power thereof” (II Timothy 3:5). The power of godliness is to resurrect life out of death. This means that when you become acquainted with the power of God, you discover that health can be resurrected out of sickness; salvation can be resurrected out of sin; wealth can be resurrected out of poverty; and pleasure can be resurrected out of pain. Thus, you will know that life can be resurrected out of death!!! Why? Because Jesus, being raised from the dead, made all of this possible. As the songwriter said, “Now life is worth the living just because He lives.”

I will write more on this subject next week. Until then,

Principles of the Doctrine of Christ: The Resurrection of the Dead (continued))

Beloved, in continuance of our theme from the “Principles of the Doctrine of Christ” series, entitled “The Resurrection of the Dead” – many scriptures in the Old Testament support the doctrine of resurrection. For example, Job said, “all of the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come” (Job 14:14). He also said, “I know that my Redeemer liveth…though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God” (Job 19:25-26). Again, it is recorded in the 19th chapter of the Book of Psalms that “my flesh also shall rest in hope” (Psalm 16:9). Other examples can be found in Psalm 17:15; Isaiah 25:8, 26:19; and Hosea 13:14.

Precious Ones, Abraham’s faith in the resurrection was clearly shown when he offered up his son Isaac (his most precious gift from God). According to Paul, Abraham did this, “accounting that God was able to raise [Isaac] up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure” (Hebrews 11:17-19). Beloved, in Paul’s time, resurrection was a well-established and proven doctrine. That is why Paul also wrote that “women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection” (Hebrews 11:35).

Chosen Ones, Paul appealed to our need to logically understand the doctrine of the Resurrection. He said of himself, “I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God, unto our fathers: Unto which promise our twelve tribes, instantly serving God day and night, hope to come…Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?” (Acts 26:6-8). What Paul was saying is that if we believe in all of God’s promises and all of the miracles of the Old Testament, why should we not believe that Jesus was raised from the dead? We believe that God (1) parted the sea, (2) rained down quail, and (3) caused water to gush from a rock. So, why could He not raise the dead?

Children of God, you must clearly see that it makes no difference what situation seems to be dead (over, finished, done, with no chance of being accomplished); if you believe that God can raise Jesus from the dead, then you must believe that there is always hope for a child of God who puts trust in Him!

Principles of the Doctrine of Christ: The Resurrection of the Dead (continued))

Beloved, I feel inspired to write unto you from a new theme from our “Principles of the Doctrine of Christ” series, entitled “The Resurrection of the Dead.” Beloved, the doctrine of the “resurrection of the dead” is so paramount that all the other doctrines of Christ that I shall share with you will rest upon it! You must understand that if there is no resurrection, then we as Christians are found to be false witnesses of Christ, and we are yet in our sins. We also must understand that if there is no resurrection, then the entire New Testament and many of the prophecies of the Old Testament are great big lies!! As recorded in scripture, many disciples either prophesied or testified that Christ was raised from the dead. The great apostle Paul explained to the Corinthian church that our faith in Jesus is vain if “Christ be not risen.” According to Paul, “if the dead rise not…they which are fallen asleep [believing] in Christ are perished.” Then, Paul put an end to the lie that Christ did not rise from the dead – Paul said, “Now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept” (I Corinthians 15:12-20).

Chosen Ones, just like today, there were many in Biblical times who did not believe in the “resurrection.” Yet, the “resurrection of Jesus” was a firm conviction of both Old and New Testament believers. Again, I must borrow from the apostle Paul’s expertise on this subject. As Paul is quoted to testify before Felix (the Roman governor of Judea), he said “This I confess unto thee, that after the way which [many in this time] call heresy [or hear-say], so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets: And have hope toward God, [which taught us]…that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just [Christ and the saints in the Rapture] and unjust [sinners on Judgment Day]” (Acts 24:14-15).

Precious Ones, I will write more on this subject next week. Until then, know this – it is and always will be a pleasure to be your servant.

I love you all SO very much.

Principles of the Doctrine of Christ: Laying on of Hands (conclusion)

Beloved, in conclusion of our theme from the “Principles of the Doctrine of Christ” series, entitled “Laying on of Hands” – God showed Paul in a vision a man coming in and “putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight” (Acts 9:12). Paul had been blinded by the illuminate presence of the Lord (Acts 9:3-5). When Ananias (the man Paul had seen in the vision) entered into the house where Paul was, he put his hands on him. Immediately, Paul received his sight and was “filled with the Holy Ghost” (Acts 9:17-18). Beloved, this shows us the power of ordained vessels like Ananias in “laying on hands.” When someone lays hands on you in accordance with God’s will, you will receive both spiritual blessings (such as the Holy Spirit) and natural blessings of “sight.” Remember, Paul needed his sight in order to travel on his three recorded missionary journeys. So, through the ¬hands of Ananias, the man of God, Paul received manifested blessings. This means that if you want a financial blessing, you should let the man of God pray over your checkbook, etc.

Precious Ones, this is why the “Laying on of Hands” was a common practice in the early church. Because of what happened to Paul, Goad was able to work special miracles by the “hands” of Paul (Acts 19:11). For example, “From [Paul’s] body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases…and the evil spirits [left] them” (Acts 19:12). Beloved, men today have counterfeited this power and transposed it into a marketing success for selfish monetary gain! Nevertheless, please understand that the scripture documents the ability of the man of God to transfer the anointing to an item by placing his hands it. The anointing is then transferred to anyone who touches the item, resulting in a blessing!

Chosen Ones, again we learn from scripture that after Paul was delivered from the serpent’s bite, he had the ability to “lay his hands” on the “the father of Publius [who] lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux [swelling due to his disease]…and healed him” (Acts 28:8). In conclusion, Beloved, we need to pray that God will give this generation the wisdom and true understanding of the concept of “laying on of hands.” I pray that you have studied this series and that it serves as a blessing to your scriptural library. When God chooses to show signs, wonders, and miracles, He often does this through ordained “hands.” This was very evident in the early church. “By [the] hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people” (Acts 5:12). As your Pastor, I would be delighted to “lay hands” on anything you desire to be blessed.

I will write from a new theme next week.

I love you all SO very much,
In His love,

Principles of the Doctrine of Christ: Laying on of Hands (continued)

Beloved, in continuance of our theme from the “Principles of the Doctrine of Christ” series, entitled “The Laying on of Hands” – the scripture teaches us that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ breathed on the disciples and said unto them, “Receive ye the Holy Ghost” (John 20:22). We know that this happened on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4). Scripture also records (Acts 8:14-15) that “when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost” [they laid their hands on them]. Beloved, we are taught that a man by the name of Simon desired to buy this power of “laying on of hands” when he saw people being filled with the Holy Spirit as Peter and John laid hands on them (Acts 8:18-19). Peter rebuked Simon and said, “Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money” (Acts 8:20). Beloved, this teaches us the source of many problems in the church today! There are many church leaders who don’t have the gift of “laying on of hands.” These leaders feel that they have purchased the gift of God because God has allowed them to amass a great following (in terms of numbers). Saints, an individual’s monetary success is not proof that his proclaimed “gift from God” is truly valid. Remember, Simon had money, but his wealth perished as soon as he thought to misuse it in God’s Kingdom. All of the false prophets who have misused their money to deceive people into believing that they can “lay hands” and receive an answer from God, will soon die, and in hell they will lift up their eyes.

Chosen Ones, don’t be deceived – if someone really has the gift of “laying on of hands,” God will confirm it by manifesting blessings that only He can give. Anyone can fake a healing, but you cannot fake receiving the Holy Ghost. Those who are filled with the Holy Ghost cannot be deceived. Paul really had the gift of “laying on of hands.” When the believers at Ephesus heard the teaching of Paul and were baptized, Paul “laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied” (Acts 19:6).

Precious Ones, I can’t tell you how many people the Lord Jesus Christ has allowed to receive the Holy Spirit when I “laid hands on” them. This is just one of many spiritual virtues that one must possess in order to have the gift of “laying on of hands.”

Children of God, I will write more on this subject later. For now, know this: Don’t allow anyone to “lay their hands” on you unless they have proven to you that God uses their hands to do works that only He can do.

I love you all SO very much,
