A God Who Cannot Lie (continued)

Beloved, in continuance of our theme, “A God who Cannot Lie” – I must share with you that I believe in the rewards that come from living a clean life and having a clean heart. God is against the soul that desires unrighteousness. Remember, “The soul that sinneth,…shall [surely] die” (Ezekiel 18:29), but Psalm 24:3 asks, “Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? [or “stand” in the realm of His blessings]?” – Remember, “…cattle upon a thousand hills” belong to the Lord (Psalm 50:10) – “or who shall stand in his Holy place?” The question is answered in Psalm 24:4 – “He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn [or makes promises] deceitfully.” In other words, Beloved, you cannot “lie” and expect to be blessed!!! We ought to follow the pattern laid out for us by our God. He chooses not to “lie,” and we should make the same choice.

Precious Ones, our God is comfortable with the fact that he has never “lied” to anyone at any time, so much so that he records that he will judge all “liars” based upon the virtues he has displayed toward them! God says that he “…will be a swift witness against false swearers,…[who] fear not [Him]” (Malachi 3:5). Beloved, that means that every “lie” and every “liar” will be judged quickly by God based upon the testimony of God’s eyewitness records of loyalty toward them.

Chosen Ones, therefore, what reason do any of us have to “lie”? “Lying” is not only disgusting to God, but it also does not make any sense!!! Knowing that our Savior Jesus Christ is true in all of His ways, our testimony should reflect our God. People should speak about us as someone spoke about Elijah, “And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and the word of the Lord in thy mouth is TRUTH” (1 Kings 17:24). Beloved, if you are looking for one of the greatest virtues to represent God, truth ranks among the highest.

I will write more on this subject next week. Until then, know this –

I love you all with my best efforts.
Yours because of Christ,

Pastor William L. McCoy
