He That Overcometh (continued)

Beloved, in continuance of our theme, “He that Overcometh” – the spirit of “the woman Jezebel” will rule over nations – not just churches, but the entire world as we know it! This spirit of the love of riches and honor has caused the religious world to compromise and to teach what is right, but to be silent on what is wrong. This spirit has committed fornication (has compromised) with world leaders in this era – it has seduced them to come under Jezebel’s leadership. As a result, many who see the prestige she has gained with the nations of the earth have been reduced to following in her pernicious and destructive ways.

Chosen Ones, many are impressed with the watered-down gospel and doctrine advocated by this spirit. However, to their dismay, Jezebel (the love of riches and honor) will fail as a source of inspiration. We learn in scripture that Jezebel’s agreement with kings will not stand, “For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will…” (Revelation 17:17). In other words, God will organize the minds of the rulers of this earth to rebel against this false doctrine at His given time. In the very next chapter of scripture, Jezebel’s destruction will come, and she and her children (followers) will be cast into a hotbed of great tribulation. (When you make time to study, read Revelation 2:20-24 and 18:1-19:2.)

Precious Ones, this teaches us that we must view watered-down doctrine, designed to please the masses, with caution and violent reprisal. The consequence of false doctrine is much greater than the temporary satisfaction of mass approval.

He That Overcometh (continued)

Beloved, in continuance of our theme, “He that Overcometh” – the Thyatiran spirit is the increase of the spirit of the preceding period. The woman Jezebel (who in type represents Roman Catholicism) has taken up the doctrine inaugurated by those of the Pergamos period. For the love of riches and honor, this system has reduced the religious world to eating “things sacrificed unto idols [holding to traditions and not the “word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God” – Matthew 4:4], and [committing spiritual] fornication” (Revelation 2:14) - worshipping other gods beside the only true and living God who is manifested in the person of Jesus Christ. Vows of chastity, selling indulgences, hail-Mary’s, and rosaries are not biblical. Today, we are experiencing what God prophesied to Moses just before his death – “thou shalt sleep with thy fathers; and this people [our generation] will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land [those who have no covenant with Jesus – God’s like false doctrine, status, prestige, deception in order to amass wealth, etc]…and break my covenant which I have made with them” (Deuteronomy 31:16).

This Thyatiran, Jezebel-spirit age in which we live not only feeds on doctrines sacrificed to “idol thinking,” but more importantly, this age does not keep God’s thinking (His commandments) any more. Today, the majority of people do not come to church to hear instructions for holy, clean, and righteous living or how to please Jesus. These days, it is all about coming to church to attend a health and wealth seminar.

Chosen Ones, we must “overcome” this mode of thinking. For the few days before we celebrate Jesus birth, we must remember that Jesus came to deliver us out of sin. Overcoming sin should be the number one priority for the Church of Christ. If you live a righteous lifestyle, health and wealth will follow. We, in this age, need to put things in their proper perspective. The scripture says that we should “seek…first the kingdom of God…and all these things shall be added unto [us]” (Matthew 6:33).

I will write more on this subject next week. Until then, have a Blessed Christmas and an Anointed New Year.

He That Overcometh (continued)

Beloved, in continuation of our theme, “He that Overcometh” – the revelation of the true identity of Jesus Christ – the revelation that He is God – is offered to all. However, not all will receive this revelation. Yes, it is appalling but true! There are some who will not realize who Jesus is, even though they read in scripture that “at the name of Jesus every knee [shall] bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue [shall] confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:10-11). Even this scripture does not settle it in some Christians’ minds that Jesus is God! Therefore, to these individuals Jesus’ identity remains veiled in mystery, but “to him that overcometh” shall His true self be made known. What do we overcome, Pastor? We must overcome the temptation to follow the majority of opinions about Jesus. By the way, if you are going to be a victorious Christian, you must enjoy being unique, at the risk of being unpopular. That is why Peter said that we (Christians) are “a peculiar people” (I Peter 2:9).

Precious Ones, the reason why many pastors refuse to teach who Jesus really is, is simply because it is hard to understand how Jesus can be “The Son of God” and “God of the Son” all in the same identity. Yet, the scriptures explain that “great is the mystery of godliness” (I Timothy 3:16), so Christians do not have the excuse of remaining uninformed of His true identity. The problem is that many have not “overcome” the doctrine of Balaam (the spirit of preaching in order to obtain riches and honor). Remember, Balaam the prophet was not so eager to speak the words of God, because he wanted to gain honor and promotion from Balak the king (Numbers 24:15-17). Today, the masses identify Jesus as the Son of God only; so many leaders want to accommodate their desires in order to gain wealth, riches, material honor, and glory. They will not speak the true revelation, and Jesus taught us why. He said, “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it” (Matthew 7:13-14). For those of you who think that Pastor McCoy is possibly quoting this scripture out of context when it comes to leaders who are teaching false truths about Jesus’ identity, Jesus went on to say, “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves” (Matthew 7:15). This is what I am talking about when it comes to the “broad” way and the “narrow” way! Let us overcome false teaching.

He That Overcometh (continued)

Beloved, in continuance of our theme, “He that Overcometh” – Jesus reminds us that the mysteries found only in our God are “[hidden]…from the wise and prudent, and…revealed…unto babes [simple-minded individuals]” (Matthew 11:25 and Luke 10:21). In order to truly feast on the revelation of Jesus Christ, we must understand that it is the true hidden manna to our souls (see John 6). When John talks about that “white stone” with “a new name written” (Revelation 2:17), only the Holy Spirit of God is able to reveal unto us that this is the same stone that Daniel saw “cut out without hands.” In Daniel’s vision, that stone “smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces” (Daniel 2:34). The image represents nations that will try to assist the anti-Christ to subdue the earth. However, the stone represents Jesus Christ! Even during the tribulation period (which is to come), our God will encourage those who still exist to overcome – not comply with, but OVERCOME the anti-Christ nations!

Precious Ones, in the last days the knowledge of these mysteries will come forth. That “new name” will be Jesus, but no one will receive it (or know it) because Satan and his leaders will attempt to eradicate that Name in the majority of the world. Remember, Matthew taught us that all will not receive Jesus as Savior (Matthew 11:14). That is why it is said, “If ye will believe…” Here is the point – today there are people who are trying desperately to eradicate the Name of Jesus from the minds of the general populace. We must overcome this mode of thinking. Let the saints pray and fast (if needed) to protect our Savior’s Name!
