God's Masterpiece (continued)

Beloved, in continuance of our theme, “God’s Masterpiece” – The modern purchasing plan beautifully illustrates the purpose of the Spirit, Soul, and Body and their final disposition. An article is purchased, the salesperson enters the amount in the computerized register, and the register prints out two copies of the transaction at once. It prints the price, date, and description of the article on what is called the original and the duplicate bill. Especially when a credit or debit card is used, the goods that are purchased receive the original copy, while the duplicate goes with the purchaser of the items (or the cardholder). If any questions arise upon the time goods are returned, as long as the holder of the duplicate bill furnishes their copy of the bill, judgment is rendered according to the records of the two bills. So it is with the Spirit, Soul, and Body – all three of “God’s Masterpieces.”

Precious Ones, the Body is the article of purchase. The Spirit and the Soul are the two bills – the original and the duplicate, respectively. The records of bodily action originate with the Spirit and are duplicated in the Soul. Paul explains this sequence of events in II Corinthians 1:23, “Moreover I call [which is this Body] God for a record [a spiritual recording] upon my soul [which is duplicated in the Soul].”

Chosen Ones, the lesson we are to learn thus far is that God created us so masterfully that when the Body reacts to something, if affects the Spirit and the Soul. That is why we must guard what we place in our bodies. Remember the reason Isaac gave Esau for wanting his hunger satisfied in Genesis 27:4? Isaac said, “make me savoury meat [appetizing meat], such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat [the Body]; that my Soul [the reaction of the Body’s satisfaction] may bless thee before I die.” Beloved, this is a good reason why Christians should not consume alcohol and drugs and overeat or eat foods that are not healthy. When your Body produces bad habits, your Spirit and Soul copies what you purchase with your lips!

God's Masterpiece (continued)

Beloved, in continuance of our theme, “God’s Masterpiece” – When “the Soul” has new records of “God’s Statutes and Commandments,” it becomes easier for men/women to walk and live righteously; just as easy as it was for them to live wickedly in their former life. Paul puts it this way, “And you [meaning “God’s Masterpieces” of spirit-filled children] hath he quickened [or raised from death to life spiritually in “the Soul”], who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world [or the habits of this world], according to the prince of the power of the air [Satan], the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience [in other words, Satan’s spirit is still at work among those who disobey God’s commandments]” (Ephesians 2:1-2).

Precious Ones, we have so much to be thankful for, because there are many who have been cleansed with water baptism in Jesus’ Name and have even been filled with the precious Holy Ghost, but fail to get God’s truth hidden, or engraved, in their hearts. As I have said in earlier editions of this letter, “God” intended that both of His “masterpieces” would complement each other. The “Masterpiece” of “His Word” should accompany “God’s Masterpiece” of “the Soul.” The two must work shoulder to shoulder and side by side. Only then, Beloved, can we live a productive life. The Psalmist puts it this way, “Thy Word have I hid in mine heart [or my soul], [here is the benefit!] that I might NOT sin against thee” (Psalm 119:11).

Chosen Ones, there are several other places in the scripture that support the fact that “the Soul” can only grow through the knowledge of God’s Word. God says, “My people are destroyed for [or because of] lack of knowledge [and] because [they] rejected [my] knowledge, I [have rejected them]” (Hosea 4:6). Paul says, “Therefore [for this reason] we [saints] ought to give the more earnest heed [or pay much closer attention] to the things which we have heard [from God’s Word], lest at any time we should let them slip” (Hebrews 2:1).

Children of God, we must understand that in God’s eyes (which are the only eyes that count to me!) we are His greatest “Masterpiece,” his greatest accomplishment. This is why everything He has prepared for us is the Best!!! They are all found in His Word – His other masterpieces He designed for us! This is why Peter said, “Whereby [or it was through this] are given [past tense] unto us [saints] exceeding great and precious promises: that by these [promises found in the Word] ye might be partakers of the divine nature [the nature of the soul’s ability to believe in God’s Word], having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust” (2 Peter 1:4). We should appreciate God’s Word!!

God's Masterpiece (continued)

Beloved, in continuation of our theme, “God’s Masterpiece” - when a soul is cleansed, the Holy Spirit comes to place new records in that soul, so that “God’s Masterpiece” (the body of man/woman) might be able to perform the will of God. This is how we “walk in newness of life.” The only way that the soul is cleansed is through God’s ordination of water baptism, as trivial as it may sound. Do not take my word for it. Paul explains that there is only one way to “walk in newness of life” – “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ [the Body] was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father [the Spirit], even so we also should walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:4).

Precious Ones, it is only through the Holy Spirit that Jesus will “put [His] laws into [our] mind [our spirit], and write them in [our] hearts [our soul]” (Hebrews 8:10 and Jeremiah 31:33. Also read John 14:26 and 16:23).

Chosen Ones, “God’s Masterpiece” was created with a mind that contains the realm of all the spiritual activity, while the heart is the seat of the soul’s affections. Beloved, the only source that will satisfy your heart is Jesus—”The Rock of Ages.” That is why David said, “when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I” (Psalm 61:2).

God's Masterpiece (continued)

Beloved, in continuance of our theme, “God’s Masterpiece” – Though the Spirit may be inclined towards righteousness, yet it cannot do the things it desires to do on the account of the soul being, as it were, filled with the engravings of past affections. Hence there is a struggle between “God’s Masterpiece” of “the Spirit” and “the Body.” Why? It is simple, because “the body” is inclined to fulfill deeds recorded in “the Soul,” while “the Spirit” endeavors to perform the works of righteousness. This is why Paul said, “For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me;” (in other words, the desire to do right is there, but my body does not have the power by itself). This is why he continues, “but how to perform that which is good I find not” (Romans 7:18). Beloved, I encourage you to read Romans 7:9-25. Paul displays in these verses genuine convictions unto godly sorrow, working repentance unto salvation.

Precious Ones, there is nothing that can remove those evil recordings engraved in our souls (or our hearts), but faith in the blood of Jesus who is the “Bishop of [our] souls” (1 Peter 2:25). “God’s Masterpiece” is so valuable to him that we find God making provision for his “Masterpiece” to receive the deliverance we need. When Paul shows the true cry of a penitent spirit, “O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?” (Romans 7:24) we find that Paul tells us of God’s provision he made for his “Masterpiece” to receive healing and deliverance. Paul says, “I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 7:25). In other words, “God’s Masterpiece” “can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth [us]” (Philippians 4:13). Beloved, when a soul reaches that state he/she should be taught full faith and obedience in the commands of God. This soul (the soul that relies solely on God) is a candidate for miracles because of its acquaintance with God! “[T]he people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits” (Daniel 11:32).
