Beloved, in continuance of our theme, “He that Overcometh” – the Thyatiran spirit is the increase of the spirit of the preceding period. The woman Jezebel (who in type represents Roman Catholicism) has taken up the doctrine inaugurated by those of the Pergamos period. For the love of riches and honor, this system has reduced the religious world to eating “things sacrificed unto idols [holding to traditions and not the “word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God” – Matthew 4:4], and [committing spiritual] fornication” (Revelation 2:14) - worshipping other gods beside the only true and living God who is manifested in the person of Jesus Christ. Vows of chastity, selling indulgences, hail-Mary’s, and rosaries are not biblical. Today, we are experiencing what God prophesied to Moses just before his death – “thou shalt sleep with thy fathers; and this people [our generation] will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land [those who have no covenant with Jesus – God’s like false doctrine, status, prestige, deception in order to amass wealth, etc]…and break my covenant which I have made with them” (Deuteronomy 31:16).
This Thyatiran, Jezebel-spirit age in which we live not only feeds on doctrines sacrificed to “idol thinking,” but more importantly, this age does not keep God’s thinking (His commandments) any more. Today, the majority of people do not come to church to hear instructions for holy, clean, and righteous living or how to please Jesus. These days, it is all about coming to church to attend a health and wealth seminar.
Chosen Ones, we must “overcome” this mode of thinking. For the few days before we celebrate Jesus birth, we must remember that Jesus came to deliver us out of sin. Overcoming sin should be the number one priority for the Church of Christ. If you live a righteous lifestyle, health and wealth will follow. We, in this age, need to put things in their proper perspective. The scripture says that we should “seek…first the kingdom of God…and all these things shall be added unto [us]” (Matthew 6:33).
I will write more on this subject next week. Until then, have a Blessed Christmas and an Anointed New Year.
I love you all SO very much,
In His Love,
Pastor William L. McCoy
