Beloved, in continuance of our theme, “A God who Cannot Lie,” I must share with you that if you do what our God commands, you will find that it will breed more confidence in your Creator, simply because the blessings that result from your obedience will be activated in your life. You will also discover that God’s way of life is the best way to live. Jesus knows what He is talking about! For example, God did not lie when He left it on record in the scriptures that there is one way to receive soul salvation. It is not through denominational traditions or through public opinions. Jesus said, “I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out [of me, Jesus], and find pasture [nourishment]” (John 10:9). Therefore, Jesus teaches us that we must acknowledge Him before we can receive salvation for our souls. Those who are offended by the Name of Jesus and who yet believe that their sins are forgiven by God are deceived!
Precious Ones, there are some who believe that if you have faith in the scriptures, you can be redeemed (saved) by faith and believing only! I agree with that, but my question to those who choose this line of thinking is this – “Faith in what?” If your response to this question is “Faith in God’s Word,” then you must understand that this is a lie. God’s Word must be made flesh (see John 1:14)! This means that there must be some manifestation of evidence that your faith has been rewarded by God. I am in agreement with the fact that your faith in the scriptures should lead you to obey the “fleshly” manifestation of being baptized in water (in Jesus’ Name) and receiving God’s gift of the Holy Spirit (with the evidence of tongues from God’s holy language). Remember, Jesus said, “...Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God” (John 3:5). Beloved, God cannot and did not lie when He said this.
I will write more next week. Until then, know this,
I love you all so very much.
In His Love,
Pastor William L. McCoy
