Beloved, in continuance of our theme, “Take no Thought for Your Life” – there are three great links in our chain of faith. We must work on these links at all times, to keep them from breaking. These links are (1) Faith for the necessities of life – food, clothes, money for bills, etc; (2) Faith for the health of the body against diseases that are prevalent everywhere; (3) Faith for protection from enemies at all times. I feel inspired by our Savior, Jesus Christ, to remind you that there are scriptures that you can attach to each of these links. See Philippians 4:19 for faith concerning life’s necessities, Psalm 103:3 for faith to receive health, and Deuteronomy 33:29 for faith to be protected from our enemies.
Precious Ones, out of all the scriptures that remind us to “take no thought for [our] lives,” I believe that David gives us the best when he says “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want” (Psalm 23:1). Not only does David say that the Lord gives him all of his desires, but, more importantly, he asks the question, “What can I want that the Lord can’t give me”? Beloved, God has everything at His disposal. Gold and silver are His; the cattle on a thousand hills are his. Even you, the dear readers of this letter – you belong to Him, and so do I.
Chosen Ones, if you believe that our God will “make [you and me] to lie down in green pastures” (Psalm 23:2), then it’s not a question of whether the Lord wants us to have the best or “greenest” pastures. No – the question should be, “Do we believe it”? If we believe that He will “lead [us] beside the still waters,” then we shouldn’t have nervous jitters about anything! Every night, you should sleep like a baby, without needing pills to assist you. In other words, faith in this Psalm will cause you to stop “taking thought for your lives.”
Precious Ones, how can one believe that our God is so powerful that He can “[restore a] soul” (Psalm 23:3), while at the same time worrying about whether God will fulfill our financial needs? Cast all of your financial cares on Him, and see how quickly your bills will be paid. Our God can bring money into existence just as quickly as He sends the air and sunshine.
I will write more on this subject next week. Until then, know this…
I love you all SO very much.
In His Love,
Pastor William L. McCoy
