He That Overcometh (continued)

Beloved, in continuance of our theme, “He that Overcometh” – our Jesus said, “I will write upon him [that overcometh] my new name” (Revelation 3:12). What is His new Name? Before this can be determined, it will be necessary to find out His old Name. Jesus declares that He is the Lord “which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty” (Revelation 1:8). Jesus also proclaims, “I am…the first and the last” (Revelation 22:13). The Almighty is the Name of the God of Abraham. Scripture teaches us that Jesus must be the God of Abraham (compare Exodus 3:13-16 and 6:2-3 with John 8:56-58). Therefore, if the one in the “midst of the…golden candlesticks” (Revelation 2:1) was Jehovah, the Almighty, the Lord of Hosts, the Holy One of Israel, the Redeemer, the First and the Last (see Isaiah 43:3 and 44:6), then His “new name” is JESUS – the greatest Name in heaven and in earth.

Precious Ones, Solomon said, “A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches” (Proverbs 22:1). Therefore, for our perfect God to choose the Name Jesus for Himself, there must not be a better name anywhere in existence. We are covered by that perfect name. There are no people on this earth more privileged than those who profess and dwell in Jesus’ Name!

Chosen Ones, because of the Name or our God (Jesus), every scripture pertains to us in some way, shape, or form. Why? Because Jesus said, “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: [but] they are they which testify of me” (John 5:39). So, when Ruth said to Naomi, “thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God” (Ruth 1:16-18), we can relate (see Romans 8:17). When Daniel said, “O king, live forever” (Daniel 2:4), we can relate (see John 3:16). Saints, I’m setting you up to believe this – if Jesus said, “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth” (Matthew 28:18), then you must understand that this pertains to us (see I John 3:2).

I will write more next week to you who are “overcomers.” Until then, know this –

I love you all so very much.
In His Love,

Pastor William L. McCoy
