He That Overcometh (continued)

Beloved, in continuance of our theme, “He that Overcometh” – God has promised to keep those who obey His Word from the hour of temptation now and when He judges this world with His wrath. (1) For now, scripture states that “[t]here hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man [meaning that the saints have no excuse not to overcome any temptation to sin. Why?, because]…God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it” (I Corinthians 10:13). (2) Scripture also supports the fact that God will keep His chosen children from the hour of temptation when He judges the world with His wrath. The scripture mentions “Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come” (I Thessalonians 1:10). Yes, the waves of the tsunami and other manifestations of God’s wrath (including plagues, pestilences, financial crises, etc.) have already swept over the face of the earth. Terrible incidents have tempted many to resort to the “arm of flesh” (II Chronicles 32:8) for deliverance, like the Assyrians did against Judah. However, all of us who overcome the desire to resort to the “arm of flesh” and put our trust in the Name of Jesus, have access to God’s promises – just by overcoming the tendency to “lean [to our] own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5). For example, scripture says that “they [who] know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them” (Psalm 9:10). So Beloved, trust in the Name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His Name’s authority will help us to overcome any obstacle we face in our lives.

I will write more on this subject next week. Until then, know this –

I love you all SO very much.

In His Love,
Pastor William L. McCoy
